Give it Your Best Shot ... Photography Competition...

To follow up on our workshop on Landscape Photography in the Mountains - the Dublin Camera Club (DCC),  MountainViews,  and the Irish Ramblers Club (IRC) are holding a photography competition. All photographs must be of Irish mountain scenes and can be film or digital. A small prize will be awarded for the best photograph in each category.

Entries will be exhibited and prizes awarded on a Thursday in October (to be confirmed) in the Dublin Camera Club on Camden Street at 8 p.m.

Conditions
  1. Entrants: Entry is open to participants on the Landscape Photography workshop, members of MountainViews, Dublin Camera Club and the Irish Ramblers Club.
  2. Pictures should be taken between 1 January 2006 and 30 September 2006.  You can submit up to 4 photographs.
  3. The winning entries will appear on the MountainViews website and may be exhibited in the Dublin Camera Club
  4. Photographic integrity:  Entrants will state whether their photographs are "manipulated" or "unmanipulated". The definition of "unmanipulated" for this competition will be as laid out at http://www.photo.net/photodb/manipulation
  5. Submitting pictures to the competition does not affect ownership or copyright of the pictures except that it allows MountainViews, DCC and IRC to use the pictures for non-commercial purposes such as display on websites, inclusion in articles, display on walls, PC desktop backgrounds etc.
  6. Further conditions may be stipulated.

Formats
Pictures to be either:

  • Emailed as a jpeg to photocomp@mountainviews.ie.  Subject line to include "2006 Photo Competition".  Jpeg size not to exceed 2 Mb.
  • Prints to be delivered by hand to the Dublin Camera Club on the day and time of judging to be announced. Size 10 x 8 to 20 x 16 inches. Matting is optional. Prints can be collected at the exhibition.

Judging
Judges will be a panel including members of MountainViews, DCC and IRC. Photos are judged anonymously. Participants enter competitions using a four letter nom de plume of their choice.

The judges decision is final.
